Presenter: Vicki Montgomery. Duration 1 hour.
Do you have London Ancestors? London is likely to figure in the family history of many people, even if they were only there for a short time. As the largest city in the United Kingdom, it’s been a magnet for people from all over Britain and the rest of the world and it’s grown rapidly both in area and in population. The GSV is planning to start a London Discussion Circle with this introductory Class on researching London Ancestors by Vicki Montgomery. Subsequent meetings will include presentations and discussion on more in-depth topics related to London such as Maps and Gazetteers, Civil Registration (Births Deaths and Marriages), Church Records, Probate, Census, Taxes, Land records, Migration, Military, Criminals, Civil and Ecclesiastical Courts, Poor Laws, School records, Newspapers, Guilds and Freemen, Apprentices, local occupations, Electoral Rolls, Repositories, Family History Societies, websites etc.
This Class is being held with a view to starting a regular Discussion Circle on London Research, which will be held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 10.30am. The first of these is scheduled for Thursday 26th April. Discussion Circles are for GSV members only, and are free.
This Class is free for GSV members. $20 non-members. AIGS, RHSV and CAV members should contact the GSV for a 25% discount.
Bookings are required and can be made online, by email, in person or by telephone (Mon-Fri 9.00am-4.00pm).
